Snow: The Opera

Read the 4 * review in The Observer here.

It was a privilege to write the libretto for the first production by innovative London-based opera company The Opera Story.  Snow is a three-act opera inspired by the story of Snow White that most of us know, but told from a fresh, and darker, perspective. To do this, we looked into the tales people were telling to their own children and grandchildren many centuries before the Snow White we know was invented. We explored the timelessness of folk stories and the recurring themes and myths that connect our lived experience with history and the history to come. Each story became an act in the opera, to which three different composers have given their own musical language.  Snow premiered in London in February 2017.
